Sunsets on The Western Coast of India

There is something extremely calm about sunsets. Nature unwinding after a hectic day – birds singing while returning home, cattle on their way back from the fields and even amidst the chaos of a bustling metropolis, the exciting chatter of people rushing back after a long day at work – everything is so soothing. My personal favourite, however, are the sunsets at any beach. I love hearing the splashing waves, watching the fishermen return with their day’s catch and taking long, lazy strolls in ankle deep water.

After the stroll, I like to sit down on the sand, watching the sun slowly fading away at the horizon, dripping golden sunshine on to the waves. Watching the sun hiding behind the clouds and then the darkness engulfing the lively scene, is something I find almost therapeutic. In the past few years, I have been lucky to watch many such golden sunsets across the Western Coast of India. Some of my favourite travel stories from India are from these sunsets on different beaches. In this photo feature, I have put together a few of my favourite moments of beach sunsets.

Mandvi Beach, Gujarat

A quaint little fortress in the state of Gujarat, Mandvi is a port town known for its 400 year old ship building industry. These pictures, however, capture the tranquil sunset on the Mandvi Beach.

Diu, Daman & Diu

The more popular fortress of the Western Coast, Diu is known for a lot of things which make for some of the great travel stories from India. But the sunset on the charming beaches are not to be missed. These were taken on the Ghogla Beach, one of the eight beaches in India to get the Blue Flag  Certification in 2020.

Dapoli, Maharashtra

A hidden gem on the Konkan belt, this one is very close to my heart. If I ever need to disconnect from the chaos of daily life and just relax amidst nature, this is one place that I love to escape to.

Shrivardhan, Maharashtra

Another lovely jewel of the Konkan region, this is one of the quiet beaches in Maharashtra. While people visit its more famous neighbour, Diveagar, Shrivardhan is the place to go if you are looking for peace and quiet.

Malvan, Maharashtra

Words are simply not enough to describe the beauty of this offbeat destination and I will definitely be writing about my travel stories from this idyllic location. But for now, here are some of my favourite sunset pictures near Sindhudurg

Goa

What can one write about Goa that has probably not already been written. Nature has endowed the place with all the beauty and charm possible. So I would just let the picturesque sunsets do the talking for now!
